Jadd William Brooker
On Wednesday, 20 December 2023, in the supreme court of Adelaide, Jadd William Brooker pleaded guilty to 182 separate offences which were committed between about January 2016 and August 2020.
Jadd's Background
At the time of his sentencing, Jadd was 41 years of age and did not have any relevant prior offending. He grew up in South Australia with parents that separated when he was young however, he was able to have a good relationship with both his parents.
He disclosed to this parents that he was a victim of sexual abuse from the age of 13. Adult males exploited him for sexual acts at the local shopping centre on a regular basis. He believes that these experiences were positive ones (a view that has distorted the view of his own offending).
He was able to finish school, play community sport and build a good employment history, despite becoming a long term illicit drug user from the age of 18.
The year 2016
2016 seems to be the year when the wheels start falling off Jadd Brooker's life. He developed an addiction to drug ice, which has been reported to increase his libido and lowered his inhibitions. He tried to blame the drug for his offending however, since he had the ability to hold employment and keep clarity in his communications with other like-minded adults, this defence was not accepted.
By the year 2017, he was HIV positive and on prescribed medication. At the time of his arrest he was in a relationship with his fiance which has since ended.
He has shown little remorse to his victims since his arrest and has been deemed a high risk of re-offending.
Jadd Brooker: His Offences
The number of offences are so large, I am unable to touch on them all. I will only mention the offences touched on in his sentencing remarks.
KP
Between 31 December 2017 and 11 September 2020 Jadd maintained an unlawful sexual relationship with KP by engaging in several sexual conversations with him online.
KP was born on 23 February 2005 and lives in New South Wales. KP was 12 when the conduct the subject of the offence first took place. Jadd met with KP twice and engaged in sexual activity while he was in NSW.
The communications with KP the subject of the maintaining offence are highly sexual in nature. They occurred from at least January 2018 to August 2020. The messages are identified from communications spanning hundreds of pages. There were also video calls. The communications include discussion about fellatio and anal sex. There are communications about sexual acts involving faeces, a particular interest of Jadd's.
In January 2018, there are Skype messages in which Jadd said that he would like to defecate on KP. In February 2018, there is a video call in which Jadd indicate that he wished to 'smash the fuck out' of his anus.
In August 2018, Jadd communicate on iMessage, telling KP that he cannot wait to fuck him, Jadd then sent him an image of his penis and referred to having anal sex with KP and having him perform fellatio on Jadd while his penis is covered in faeces.
In December 2018, Jadd told KP 'I want to breed ur filthy hole' and then sent a video of Jadd defecating.
I think by now we all get the point on Jadd's behaviour with KP. KP estimates that he sent you at least 50 sexual videos. Some were particularly depraved.
There are 19 other counts involving KP.
DD
Between 1 April 2017 and 26 October 2019, Jadd maintained an unlawful sexual relationship with DD by engaging in multiple sexual conversations with him online.
He first began chatting with DD on Grindr in 2016. DD had set his age as being 18 as that is the youngest age a user can choose. At the time of the offence though, DD was 16. Jadd knew that DD was under the age of 17, during the period of the offence and he continued to communicate with him after he turned 17.
After a few days of messages, DD says the conversations quickly became sexual. Jadd began to discuss masturbating and what the two of them wanted to do to each other if they met.
DD estimates that Jadd sent him 20 to 30 nude photographs as well as videos. DD estimates he sent Jadd 35 to 40 images of himself.
After a few weeks of chatting, DD says that Jadd moved communications to Skype. On Skype, he recalls making a video call to Jadd, during which they both masturbated while on camera.
I give some examples of the communications
Jadd asked how many 'daddies' he is chatting to. Jadd said he wants to fellate him. Jadd talks about what he wanted to do with DD's ‘butt’. He said that he wanted to ‘fuck’ him and ask him if he wants to be ‘fucked’.
Jadd invite him to meet with you, but he declines. They never ended up meeting in person.
Jadd Booker HIV Positive Information
Before dealing with any further maintaining offences, it is necessary to say something more about Jadd being HIV positive. As mentioned earlier, Jadd had known that he was HIV positive since at least 2017.
The sex that he had was unprotected and put the victim's at risk of also becoming HIV positive. It is also worth noting that Jadd stopped taking his medication for his HIV. Which increases the risk of spreading the virus.
JA
JA was 15 years old at the time the maintaining offence involving him commenced. Jadd engaged in kissing, fellatio and anal penetration with JA while he was 16.
JA would regularly use Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram on his phone. He also had a Kik account and a Grindr account. JA set his age to the legal minimum of 18 years on Grindr, but he would tell people his real age when he began chatting to them.
In late 2018, JA first started talking to Jadd. After a while, they exchanged mobile numbers and started talking via text message. Jadd discussed having sex and meeting up in person. JA sent images of his penis and anus to Jadd.
JA met up with Jadd on three occasions to engage in sexual activity. The first occasion was before Christmas school holidays in 2018. JA went to Jadd;s house. Jadd kissed and got JA to give his oral sex. Jadd also gave oral sex to JA and had anal sex with him. JA spent about an hour at Jadd's house.
The two of you continued to text. There was a pause in communications when JA went overseas but they met each other two more times for anal intercourse.
JS
JS was 14 when this offence commenced.
Between January 2017 and 10 March 2020, Jadd maintained an unlawful sexual relationship with JS by engaging in sexual acts with him. Those acts involved kissing, fellatio and anal penetration.
When he was 14, JS joined an online website. When JS created his account, he lied and stated that he was 18. However, once he began chatting to a particular profile, he would say he was 14. Jadd knew JS was 14.
After chatting for two or three days, Jadd suggested meeting in person. Jadd met JS after school and took him back to his house. The two of them kissed and performed fellatio upon one another. JS was at Jadd's house for about half an hour or so.
In total they met up four times for sexual activity and exchanged child pornography throughout their time knowing each other.
NH
The offence began when NH was 14.
His mother read a victim impact statement. Jadd took advantage of an innocent, immature boy. His mother says Jadd took his innocence and ability to explore his sexuality with someone of his own age.
Jadd enticed him away from those in a position to protect him. NH's mother experiences pain and anxiety. She has seen her son suppress his feelings and withdraw. She describes you being HIV positive and waiting for test results as agony.
Between January 2020 and the end of July 2020, Jadd maintained an unlawful sexual relationship with NH by engaging in multiple sexual acts with him that involved kissing, fellatio, masturbation, anal sex and sexual communications.
NH downloaded the Grindr application in either late 2019 or early 2020. That is how Jadd met him. NH says that once the two of you began chatting, the conversation quickly turned sexual. They sent each other intimate images. NH estimates that he sent Jadd about 15 to 20 images and a few videos.
Summary
I don't know how to wrap this one up. I feel for all the victims and their families. Jadd William Brooker is a soul destroyer and deserves his punishment.
